The "Choice
Outstanding Academic Title" award is given by Choice journal of the
American Association of College & Research Libraries, ACRL. It designates
outstanding academic books in terms of quality, relevance, and contribution to
the field.
It is one of the most
prestigious awards for academic books in the U.S.
Choice journal of
ACRL, the Association of College & Research Libraries, a division of the
American Library Association.
They read and review
thousands of academic books every year.
How selections are made:
- A team of editors and
6,000+ academic reviewers - faculty, librarians, and researchers from
universities
- Books are selected
based on: excellence in writing, scholarly depth, importance to the field,
relevance to academic study, and unique contribution
- Out of ∼25,000 books reviewed per year, only about 500-600 receive the title.
